Health First Chooses Eclipse PPM to Manage their Enterprise Portfolio of Projects

January 2008 – Solution Q, a leader in providing Project Portfolio Management and Project Management services and software solutions to the healthcare industry, announces that Health First Inc., a Florida not-for-profit health system, has purchased Eclipse Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and Professional Services to advance the formation and deployment of a corporate Project Management Office (PMO).

Eclipse PPM is Solution Q’s advanced project portfolio and project management solution, a web-based application that was built to address the complex project and project portfolio management requirements facing the healthcare industry. These issues include portfolio visibility and reporting, human resource capacity planning, corporate governance and strategic alignment, as well as project prioritization and scheduling.

Health First Inc. is comprised of three hospitals located in Brevard County, FL, and is First in Health Care on Florida’s Space Coast. Health First chose Eclipse PPM after an extensive evaluation of the tools and solutions that are available on the market. The primary consideration was to find a solution sophisticated enough to address the needs of a multi-hospital health system, which still embraced ease-of-use concepts that enable maximum deployment and user acceptance, throughout the enterprise.

"Health First is constantly working on new and improved methods for patient care. At any given time we have several hundred projects going on in our organization. We needed a way to make sure that, as an organization, we are working on those initiatives that meet our strategic and business objectives. Controlling costs and work effort for that many projects is vital for us. Health First is embracing a phased rollout approach for Eclipse PPM, starting with IT and Facilities; two areas of the organization that are already well versed in project and project portfolio management concepts. This ensures that the organizational change that occurs is incremental, and will build on success and proven structure before moving to a broader deployment as a part of the corporate PMO.

Solution Q is working to support Health First through their development of an enterprise Project Management Office (PMO), including the provision of professional services around PMO methodologies and structure.
