Eclipse PPM Key for Illinois Hospital Strategy

March 2009 – With the opening of a new state of the art hospital slated for fall of 2011 and corporate goals of enhanced quality, safety and service, Silver Cross Hospital has selected Eclipse Project Portfolio Management (PPM) to assist their IS PMO in strategically managing their growing portfolio of technology initiatives.

Eclipse PPM is Solution Q’s advanced project portfolio and project management solution, a web-based application that was built to address the complex project and project portfolio management requirements facing the healthcare industry. These issues include portfolio visibility and reporting, human resource capacity planning, corporate governance and strategic alignment, as well as project prioritization and scheduling.

Silver Cross Hospital is an acute care facility with 304 licensed beds located in Joliet, IL, 37 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Widely accredited, Silver Cross has been named a Thomson 100 Top Hospitals National Award Winner for the past four consecutive years (2004-2007). Only 15 hospitals in the entire country have received this honor for the past four years, and Silver Cross is the only hospital in Illinois.

The IS Division was looking for a sophisticated yet easy to use solution that could act as central repository for all projects across the entire IS organization, improve project intake and prioritization, and provide powerful reporting capabilities for senior management.

After an extensive review of PPM tools, Silver Cross chose Eclipse PPM. “Eclipse provides the right tool to track and communicate on key strategic initiatives not only at the department level but also, and more importantly, for the organization. Silver Cross is embracing an initial roll-out of Eclipse PPM in the IS Division with planned expansion to other areas within the hospital. An immediate need existed to provide project leaders with a mechanism for effective and timely communication of projects plans. Eclipse will also assist executive staff with a ‘big-picture’ status view of key milestones, financials and project health indicators.
