North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN Invests in Project and Portfolio Management

October 2009 – Eclipse Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is currently being used in three of the 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHIN) in Ontario. North Simcoe Muskoka (NSM) LHIN has implemented Eclipse PPM to collaborate among health service providers by using a common PPM tool and approach to manage all e-health initiatives, IT projects and LHIN-sponsored projects.

Eclipse PPM is Solution Q’s dynamic web solution that enables organizations to effectively manage a portfolio of projects and initiatives and align them with business strategy, while balancing risk and reward.

“The North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN has made an investment in project management and portfolio project management which offers a “best practice” approach to structure and consistency for collaborative initiatives in this region,” said Rod Burns, CIO & eHealth Lead. Rod was part of the selection and implementation of Eclipse PPM to ensure that projects, initiatives and resources are aligned with Ministry and LHIN corporate strategy. “Eclipse provides an easy to use web-based solution to successfully manage priority projects that require multi-stakeholder involvement.”

Another reason behind the NSM LHIN’s purchase was Eclipse PPM’s flexibility as a project planning tool, requiring minimal training and the ability to accept various levels or detail depending upon a particular project’s requirements.
